Swansea boss Francesco Guidolin: I get on well with Watford owners

Swansea boss Francesco Guidolin has said he has a good relationship with Watford owners the Pozzo family after reports linked him with the Hornets job.

Watford manager Quique Sanchez Flores, who kept the club in the Premier League and guided them to the FA Cup semifinals, is under increasing scrutiny following a slump in form during the second half of the campaign.

His side have won just twice in 11 league games and slipped from seventh to 12th, and the club said they would discuss the manager's future at the end of the season.

"I read something about Watford and, yes, I worked with the Pozzo family for five years in Udinese," Guidolin said.

"We worked very well together. In five years we were four times in the European positions, two in the Champions League playoff and two in the Europa League.

"But I don't know what happens at Watford."

Guidolin urged his Swansea players to mathematically ensure their Premier League status against Liverpool this weekend.

The Swans are on 40 points, but Norwich and Sunderland could yet overhaul them.

"Every week I speak to my players and, at the moment, mathematically it is not sure," Guidolin said.

"We need points. After that we can speak about other situations and other problems, but all I want is to make sure we are safe mathematically."
