Andy Carroll must show consistent goal-scoring form for West Ham to stand any chance of featuring for England at Euro 2016, according to Slaven Bilic.
Carroll, 26, has suffered numerous injury problems since joining West Ham permanently in 2013 from Liverpool, but scored against his former club in Saturday's 2-0 victory -- his third goal in 13 appearances this season.
The former Anfield forward is back in contention for a place in Roy Hodgson's England squad ahead of the European Championship in France this summer, but Hammers manager Bilic says Carroll must prove his quality for the rest of the season if he is to return to the national setup.
"To talk about the Euros is wrong for him," Bilic told reporters. "If England is a serious national team and you're trying to win the Euros then you can't talk about the national team when the player has scored three goals.
"He's got all the quality. To ask me does he have quality then, yes. But he has to show it on a longer scale and now it's there.
"He's got a chance."
Carroll scored against Sweden in the Euro 2012 group stages to help England to a quarterfinal finish, and Bilic believes the chance to represent the Three Lions at another major tournament can spur the forward on to keeping up his form at Upton Park.
"It would push me definitely," he added. "And I hope that he's going to do everything because when he's like this he's hard to play against.
"We created many chances against Liverpool and we could have scored more. But it's a brilliant start to the New Year."
Bilic said in December that Carroll would not be sold in the January transfer window despite reported interest from the striker's former club Newcastle United, who sold him to Liverpool in a £35 million deal four years ago.
