Former Newcastle goalkeeper Pavel Srnicek had a "had a stable night and his body is healing" following his cardiac arrest, his agent Steve Wraith has said. The 47-year-old is currently in an induced coma after collapsing while out running in Ostrava in his native Czech Republic. It is hoped hospital staff will be able to carry out a CT scan on Wednesday on the stricken Srnicek, who played for the Magpies between 1991 and 1998 and was capped 49 times by his country. Wraith told the Newcastle Evening Chronicle: "Pav has had a stable night and his body is healing. However, there is a long, long way to go. Wednesday is an important day. The hospital are hoping to perform a CT scan. If they can, we should know a lot more about his chances. "If they can't perform the CT scan tomorrow then we are looking at two, three days' time [before more is known]." Srnicek remains a fans' favourite on Tyneside and his family has been inundated by best wishes from fans. Newcastle head coach Steve McClaren said on Tuesday: "It's sad news, sad news. "What a character -- I remember him and he is really, really well-liked and loved by the Newcastle fans. "People have sent me through some great stories about him and his love for the club, and it's a real shame. Our thoughts go out to his family and friends, everybody who surrounds him, and we just hope for a recovery for Pavel."
