Wayne Rooney plays for Everton in Duncan Ferguson testimonial

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney featured for his former club Everton as they fell to a 2-1 loss to Villarreal in Duncan Ferguson's testimonial at Goodison Park with Tyias Browning on target for the Premier League side.

Rooney left Everton in 2004 for Old Trafford having made 67 league appearances for the Toffees, and he made a special appearance back in blue to celebrate Ferguson's Everton career on Sunday.

An 87th-minute winner from Sheyi Ojo gave Liverpool a 2-1 victory at Swindon.

Brendan Rodgers' side had taken the lead three minutes after half-time through a superb Christian Benteke volley but were pegged back by Swindon's Jonathan Obika 15 minutes later.

Joe Allen was forced off with a hamstring injury after just 13 minutes.

Federico Bernardeschi scored twice early in the first half to help Fiorentina defeat Barcelona 2-1 in the International Champions Cup.

Barcelona responded quickly as Luis Suarez got on the end of a volleyed Ivan Rakitic pass to poke home, but despite controlling 70 percent of possession there would be no equaliser for Barcelona, who again played without stars Lionel Messi and Neymar.

Nice rallied at home to surprise Napoli 3-2 in a game that ended in pushing and shoving and Jose Callejon sent off.

The French side opened the scoring through Alassane Plea in the eighth minute, but Callejon and Dries Mertens to put the visitors ahead by the 20th minute.

Jean Michael Seri and Valere Germain scored on either side of half-time to give the victory to Nice.

Wesley Sneijder scored in the 54th minute to help Galatasaray defeat his former club Inter Milan 1-0.

Jay Rodriguez boosted his hopes of making an impact in the 2015-16 season following his long-term knee injury as he struck late to salvage a 1-1 draw for Southampton against Espanyol.

Two goals in five first half minutes set Porto on the way to a comfortable 3-0 win vs. Stoke. Vincent Aboubakar, Alberto Bueno and Yacine Brahimi netted for the Portuguese club.

Diafra Sakho opened the scoring for West Ham in their meeting with Werder Bremen but a brace from Anthony Ujah turned the game on its head.

Alvaro Negredo was on target for Valencia but they suffered a 3-2 loss in their friendly meeting with Bundesliga club Cologne, whose winner came from Milos Jojic.

Europa League holders Sevilla lost to Brighton & Hove Albion 1-0 as a Tomer Hemed penalty was the game's only goal.

Athletic Bilbao lost 2-0 away to Osasuna, with Nino and Javi Martinez supplying goals in each half.

Johannes Geis gave Schalke the lead in their friendly with FC Twente but the Dutch side equalised five minutes from full-time through Michael Olaitan.
