Chelsea close in on title as Eden Hazard strike beats Man United

Chelsea have one hand on the Premier League title after Eden Hazard fired them to a 1-0 win over Manchester United at Stamford Bridge.

Jose Mourinho's third Premier League title, and Chelsea's first for five years, could be just 11 days away after Hazard's 38th-minute strike rounded off a neat move and put them 10 points clear of second-placed Arsenal.

And if they win at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday week, Chelsea could be crowned champions at Leicester three days later.

United, who began the day eight points behind them, dominated the opening period -- but their only chance of note saw Wayne Rooney shoot narrowly wide.

Leicester boosted their hopes of Premier League survival with a third win in three games as they beat Swansea 2-0 at home.

Leonardo Ulloa, a late starter due to an injury to David Nugent in the warm-up, hammered the ball into the bottom corner after Wes Morgan's knock down in the 15th minute to score his first goal since January.

The Foxes had to wait until the last minute to make the game safe as Lukasz Fabianski flapped at a free kick and Andy King slotted home to ensure that they are now in the relegation zone only on goal difference.

Southampton failed to leapfrog Liverpool into fifth place as they were beaten 2-1 by Stoke.

Southampton took the lead when a Steven Davis corner was headed back across goal by Jose Fonte and Morgan Schneiderlin was on hand to poke home at the back post in the 22nd minute.

After the break, Stoke needed only two minutes to level as Mame Biram Diouf took advantage when Steven Nzonzi's sliced shot came back off the bar and he finished smartly past goalkeeper Kelvin Davis.

Substitute Charlie Adam gave the Potters all three points as the midfielder controlled well after a scramble in the box and lashed home with six minutes to go.

Burnley fell deeper into relegation trouble as they suffered a 1-0 defeat at Everton.

The home side went ahead when Kevin Mirallas smashed into the net from close range in the 29th minute after Arouna Kone had failed to control Seamus Coleman's low cross.

Tom Heaton kept Burnley in the game by saving a Ross Barkley penalty but, just before half-time, Ashley Barnes made their task harder when he was sent off for a second bookable offence after bringing Coleman down.

West Brom halted Crystal Palace's recent good run with a 2-0 win at Selhurst Park to aid their fight against relegation.

The Baggies took an early lead as James Morrison headed home Chris Brunt's corner inside two minutes. The visitors kept Palace at bay until half-time and, after the break, Craig Gardner fired a stunning 25-yard drive past Julian Speroni to double the lead.

Glenn Murray's airshot then saw the ball come through to Dwight Gayle four yards out, but his diving header went over the bar and Palace could not get back into the game as Yaya Sanago had a goal ruled out for offside.
