Chelsea's Eden Hazard says title race 'not finished' despite Man City's defeat

Chelsea midfielder Eden Hazard has played down suggestions that Manchester City's defeat at Liverpool on Sunday was the decisive result in this season's Premier League title race.

Hazard and his teammates had their attentions focused on winning the Capital One cup final against Tottenham at Wembley on Sunday, but the 2-1 defeat for City at Anfield was just as significant a result for Jose Mourinho's men in many ways.

Chelsea could open up an eight-point gap on their nearest rivals if they win the game in hand they now have on City (away at Leicester), but Hazard offered this response when asked by reporters if the title race was now all but over.

"I don't know about that," he said. "The season is still long. [The title race] is not finished.

"Manchester City have very good players, they play very well and it will be a war until the end. So it is important for us to keep going, we still have a lot of matches.

"By winning this [Capital One Cup] trophy, we can concentrate on the League 100 percent. It's always important to win trophies when playing for Chelsea.

"Before the game we didn't feel pressure or think about the Liverpool-Man City game. Of course when you see the result and that Liverpool won, it is very good for the confidence."

Hazard hopes Chelsea's 2-0 win against Spurs at Wembley will kick-start a run of success for his side in the coming weeks, with the Belgian accepting the pressure is on to deliver more trophies.

"When you play for Chelsea you have to win trophies and get to the semi-final or final of the Champions League," he continues, as Chelsea look forward to the second leg of their Champions League last-16 tie against Paris Saint-Germain, with the scores tied at 1-1 from the first meeting in Paris last month.

"We know it's always difficult because there are very good teams in it. The first game against PSG finished 1-1, it was good for us. But the tie is not finished and we need to win.

"How far can we go? I hope we can get to the final. We will see. First, we must concentrate on out next game against West Ham [this Wednesday]."
