Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert stay at Anfield, says Brendan Rodgers

LIVERPOOL -- Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has dismissed the prospect of either Rickie Lambert or Mario Balotelli leaving on transfer deadline day.

Rodgers also played down the chances of an imminent deal to bring in Burnley striker Danny Ings, hinting that he would wait until the summer to make his next batch of significant signings.

England international Lambert -- signed from Southampton for four million pounds in June -- has been linked with Crystal Palace and Hull, while Balotelli's long-term future has been the subject of much speculation.

Inter Milan boss Roberto Mancini said in December that he would be interested in a deal for the 24-year-old Italy international, who played for him at Manchester City as well as for the Nerazzurri.

But Rodgers, preparing his side for an FA Cup fourth-round replay at Championship side Bolton on Wednesday, said he expected a quiet end to the January window for Liverpool.

Asked about Lambert, Balotelli and Ings, he said: "It'll be another window when we're looking to keep all the players here. It'll be a quiet window for us.

"I'm happy with how the squad is developing, and between now and the end of the season we'll look to continue with that improvement. We would want to keep all the players here."

Reports have suggested that Ings, whose deal at Burnley expires in June, has signed a pre-contract agreement with Real Sociedad, although sources have told ESPN FC that is not the case.

Liverpool had looked into the possibility of signing the 22-year-old and then loaning him back to Burnley for the rest of the season, but rules prevent two Premier League clubs from entering into such a deal with each other.

Rodgers said that, for now, he would rather promote players from Liverpool's youth set-up than make a last-minute panic buy.

He cited the example of 19-year-old winger Jordon Ibe, recalled early from a season-long loan at Championship side Derby County on Jan. 15 to work with the first-team squad at Anfield.

"I think whether you do business in January depends on the moment you're in as a team," he said. "Last January, we didn't do any business either.

"I don't like to stockpile players. I'd rather bring the young players in the academy through. That was the case in this window.

"Jordon Ibe did well at Derby, and we needed another player in that area. Rather than bring in a more senior player, we've got young players we can look to who have been developing very well. And he's been fantastic since he came back in.

"You look for star quality in the window, but if it's not there you go with what you've got."

Liverpool have allowed academy winger Sheyi Ojo, 17, to join Championship strugglers Wigan Athletic on loan for the rest of the season.
