Ben Foster has described the Tony Pulis regime at West Brom as "brutal," but insisted the manager's methods will get the best out of the Baggies.
Pulis is unbeaten in his first four games in charge after Saturday's 2-1 win at Birmingham in the FA Cup fourth round.
And Foster believes the Albion squad have been given a wake-up call by the 57-year-old, who replaced Alan Irvine this month.
"It is brutal but I love it. I think it's fantastic," he said, after Victor Anichebe's double sent them through at St Andrew's.
"I would say he is just on to players a bit more. Nobody really gets away with anything now.
"Fair play to the gaffer. He lets nobody have rest days or slack off, nothing like that.
"Everybody is training to their maximum potential every day and everybody is looking a bit fitter and sharper and you can see the difference.
"Everybody does the same thing and there are no exceptions. There is no 'you might be the highest-paid player or the best player in the team'.
"It doesn't matter. You are doing the work, it's as simple as that.
"When he was rumoured to be coming to us I said 'look out lads, you'll be doing a bit of running'."
Foster replaced Boaz Myhill in the second half at St Andrew's after the deputy goalkeeper's finger injury and insisted ex-Stoke boss Pulis has not mellowed.
"Definitely not. He's the same old Tony Pulis and I think he's great, I really do. He's so professional, so thorough and he thinks everything through down to the minutest detail," said the England international.
"If you're somebody who is willing to work hard, be professional and do it the right way then you'll fit in, and if not you haven't got much of a chance with him."
Pulis himself is looking to add to his squad before next Monday's transfer deadline and is keen on Wolves' Bakary Sako and has made two bids for Wigan's Callum McManaman,
But he warned the Baggies are not guaranteed to get the players they need to aid their Premier League survival fight.
He said: "I can honestly stand here and say I don't know whether we'll do the deals or not.
"We're still trying to put certain things in place but we have to do it. It's been a great run for us but we have to get certain things in to give us a chance to push on.
"Someone said about Sako, McManaman, him, him and him but for me the deals are done and then we'll talk about them."
