Pellegrini: City more than Aguero (1:11)

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini believes his side deserves more credit after their 2-0 win in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday. (1:11)

Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew has been named as Manager of the Month for November, with Manchester City's Sergio Aguero taking the player accolade.

Pardew has overseen a resurgence in his team's fortunes in recent weeks, and secured three league wins from four games in November.

The 53-year-old had been the target of fan unrest earlier in the season as Newcastle struggled -- but they are now seventh in the Premier League and ended Chelsea's unbeaten start to the campaign with a 2-1 victory at St James' Park.

He told Newcastle's official website: "It is a huge honour to be named Barclays Premier League Manager of the Month.

"Our recent form has been a real team effort, both on and off the pitch. The players have been fantastic during this time and huge credit must also go to my staff, who work tirelessly behind the scenes."

Manchester City striker Aguero, who is out injured for up to six weeks after limping off in the early stages of the home win over Everton, scored the derby winner against Manchester United -- one of three goals during the month -- and also chalked up two assists.
