Tottenham Hotspur unlikely to be granted Olympic Stadium share

West Ham United have said they would be unlikely to share the Olympic Stadium after they arrive in 2016 -- and that appears to mean that Tottenham Hotspur will have to spend a season at the home of League One outfit MK Dons and at Wembley.

Earlier this month, Spurs announced that their proposed new stadium faced delays after a legal challenge from one of the landowners on the new site near their White Hart Lane ground.

That delay means they will have to find a new venue for home games for a season in order to comply with Premier League guidelines, and the Olympic Stadium, Wembley and stadium:mk have all been mentioned as possibilities.

But after the north London club and West Ham were involved in an acrimonious scrap to become tenants of the Olympic Stadium in Stratford -- a battle won by the Hammers -- it seems unlikely that the two clubs could go on to share the ground, even on a short-term basis.

The Daily Telegraph reported West Ham vice-chairman Karren Brady as saying: "In reality they probably could -- but only with our permission, and no one has asked us for permission.

"And even if they had, we would probably say no depending on who it is, if you catch my drift.

"We are the anchor tenant for the winter matches and nothing else can happen in that time without our permission. Our football matches take priority over everything else."

Spurs' move to a new ground a short distance from their traditional home seemed on schedule when a Compulsory Purchase Order was approved over the summer.

However, a High Court challenge to the order by one landowner has left the club admitting it is "highly unlikely" that they will be able to move in time for the 2017-18 campaign.
