Ronald Koeman set for Southampton

Southampton are expecting to name their new manager imminently and Ronald Koeman is tipped to be named as Mauricio Pochettino's replacement at St Mary's Stadium, sources have told ESPN FC.

Koeman has long been the frontrunner to land the Southampton job, with the Dutchman's eagerness to work in the Premier League and his availability after he left Feyenoord at the end of last season making him an attractive prospect for the south coast club's recruitment team.

Koeman is looking to bring his brother Erwin with him to Southampton, with his agent confirming his client is keen to seal the move.

"He wants to make a next step in his career at an ambitious club with possibilities. Southampton fits in that profile," Koeman's adviser Guido Albers said, in quotes appearing in The Guardian.

"Pochettino made a solid base and Ronald is the ideal candidate to build the squad from there."

One of Koeman's first tasks at Southampton will be resolving the futures of a host of star players who have been linked with moves away from the club, with full-back Luke Shaw heavily linked with a move to Manchester United.

Meanwhile, captain Adam Lallana and Croatian defender Dejan Lovren are the subject of reported interest from Liverpool.

Southampton chiefs have confirmed that no player departures will be sanctioned until the new manager is in place.
