James Milner happy to remain with City

James Milner admits he faces an uncertain future as he prepares to enter the last year of his Manchester City contract.

The England international suggested he wants to stay at the Etihad Stadium but is yet to discover whether the newly crowned Premier League champions will keep him.

Milner, who joined City from Aston Villa for 26 million pounds in 2010, has helped them win two titles and the former Leeds and Newcastle midfielder has enjoyed being at a club that challenge, but does not know if he will stay there.

"Who knows?" he said. "I have got one year left on my contract. We have won two trophies this year. I have been at the club four years now and enjoyed every minute.

"We have managed to win a few trophies along the way and that is why I came here, to win trophies. That's amazing. I just want to contribute as much as we can and play as many games as I can, and help the club to win trophies."

Milner has made 142 appearances in his four seasons at City and came off the bench in Sunday's 2-0 win over West Ham, when they clinched the title.

He added: "It'll be nice to defend it next year. We know how hard it is to win, and even harder to defend. First of all we have to enjoy it. These days don't come along too often."

City's fate was out of their hands after they lost 3-2 at Liverpool and then drew 2-2 with Sunderland, but they finished the season with five straight wins.

Milner added: "From those games we thought it was lost, but we had a bit of luck with the Liverpool results. To go and win the last four games like we did, against some tricky opposition, Crystal Palace were the in-form team, Everton away is always such a tough game, to come through those two... then it is never dead until it is dead.

"It looked two easy home games on paper but no-one ever rolls over. To win those four games under severe pressure and do it a bit more calm and easier than two years ago was a bit nicer this year."
