Tottenham head coach Tim Sherwood has hit out at the managers he claims have been touting themselves for his job while he is still employed at White Hart Lane.
Sherwood, who was given an 18-month contract when he replaced Andre Villas-Boas in December, is expected to leave Spurs in the summer.
But he believes some of his managerial peers have acted wrongly by pursuing the Tottenham job during his reign.
Both Louis van Gaal and Glenn Hoddle have been strongly linked with the post in recent months and Sherwood said: “Every press conference I do it’s: ‘This manager’s coming in...Van Gaal, then Hoddle, this one and that one.’

“Some of these managers are actually touting themselves for my job. I don’t think that’s right. It’s something that doesn’t sit well with me. If anyone ever asks me about another job I just tell them that they’ve got another manager. Until they haven’t got a manager and until I haven’t got a job, say nothing.
“At every press conference at our training centre it was: ‘You’re keeping the seat warm for someone else.’ Yeah, I am, but the seat’s getting quite hot.”
Tottenham recorded a 1-0 victory at Stoke on Saturday to keep alive their faint hopes of a top-four finish.
He added: “I’ve done alright, you know, it’s been hard. I’ve had to keep my discipline I suppose and my dignity, pride and just get on with the job. That’s all I’ve tried to do. It’s an honour to manage this football club and long may it continue.”
Spurs have won 60 percent of their league games under Sherwood and are averaging almost two goals per game since he replaced Villas-Boas, whose teams managed less than one per match on average.
And if they win their final two league games, they will equal last season’s club record total of 72 Premier League points, which was achieved before Gareth Bale joined Real Madrid.
“Our record was 72 last season with one of the best players in the world,” Sherwood said. “We’ve had to accommodate for that and find other ways to score goals. My brief when I come into the club was to find a way to score more goals. We’d scored 15 [in 16 games] when I took over and I think we’ve got 38 now so think I’ve ticked that box.”
