Hull owner Assem Allam’s plans to change the club’s name has caused much controversy among Tigers supporters, while the Football Association rejected his bid to do so last month.

On Monday, though, Hull released the results from a ballot of season-ticket holders, with the majority of votes cast in favour of the new name, as well as for the Allam Family to continue in their running of the club.

That does not tell the full story, however, as of the 15,033 supporters eligible to vote, only 5,874 chose to participate.

Of those who took part, 2,565 voted in favour of the name change and the Allam Family, while 2,517 opted the other way -- 16.7 percent of the overall number of the club’s season-ticket holders.

Meanwhile, 792 said they “will continue to support the club either way,” while 9,159 season-ticket holders chose not to vote.

“We thank all those who voted for sharing their opinion with the club,” a statement announcing the results on the official club website read.
