Samir Nasri: City's season not over yet

Samir Nasri has insisted it can still be a superb season for Manchester City, despite being knocked out of two competitions in the space of four days.

City’s quadruple hopes ended when they were beaten 2-1 by holders Wigan in the FA Cup on Sunday.

And then their Champions League came to an end with a 2-1 second-leg defeat against Barcelona, which completed a 4-1 aggregate win for the Catalan club.

City have already won the Capital One Cup and Nasri believes their year will be a major success if they add the Premier League trophy.

Nasri told City’s official website: “Now it is important we win the league. If we end the season with two trophies it is a great season for us.”

City, who travel to Hull on Saturday, are nine points behind leaders Chelsea but have three games in hand on Jose Mourinho’s side.

And Nasri believes they should take heart from their Champions League exploits as they gear up for in the run-in.

He added: “I think we can have no fear of anyone. We have shown that when we play we can compete with anyone in the world. We won in Munich [against Bayern in December], we played a great game [in the Nou Camp].”
