Arsenal probe Bendtner outburst claim

Arsenal are investigating claims that Nicklas Bendtner drunkenly threatened a taxi driver on Tuesday, the club confirmed to ESPN.

Nicklas Bendtner is alleged to have engaged in some rather ungentlemanly behaviour.

The Gunners are looking into the allegations made in Danish newspaper BT that the striker "ran amok" in Copenhagen while his Arsenal team-mates were in Germany being knocked out of the Champions League by Bayern Munich.

Bendtner did not travel to Munich after being left out of Arsene Wenger's 18-man squad.

The Denmark international is accused of threatening the taxi driver before unbuttoning his trousers and rubbing his genitals against the car.

The driver is quoted by the newspaper as saying: "I've run with drunks and alcoholics in Copenhagen for more than 25 years, but I've never experienced anything like it."

Neither the 26-year-old nor his agent could be reached for comment on the Copenhagen allegations but the striker recently told another Danish newspaper, Jyllands-Posten, that his search for a new club has been unfairly complicated by erroneous perceptions of his lifestyle, saying: "People think I'm a psychopath."

Bentdner is out of contract in the summer and has made it clear he wants to leave the Emirates, but he said: "The image that people have about me is that I'm all about partying -- that I'm indifferent to football -- and it's as far from reality as could possibly be.

"I have, for example, talked to clubs who say they have heard things about me, so I have to say that none of them are true. The perception of me is never going to be positive if clubs talk to people who have a negative view."
