Xhaka: It's difficult to turn Man City down

Ozil paparazzi incident played down

Mesut Ozil’s media advisor has told Sport1 that reports the Arsenal midfielder hit a photographer with his car are “not quite right” and that he does not expect the player to be charged by police.

Cross: Arsenal's title March

The Press Association reported earlier this week that Ozil was thought to have been questioned by the Metropolitan Police over allegations the car he was driving hit a photographer in North London on Friday night.

However, his media advisor, Roland Eitel, said the reports were not strictly accurate and that Ozil has already “received positive signals” from Metropolitan Police that “he need not worry.”

Eitel also indicated that Ozil was provoked by paparazzi.

“When Mesut got home with a friend on Friday evening, several photographers were waiting at his front door,” he said. “Mesut drove up the driveway, and he was chased by a photographer, who was hitting his car and destroyed his wing mirror.”

The Independent reported on Tuesday that Ozil, who missed Arsenal’s 4-1 victory over Sunderland at the weekend, was allowed to spend some time back in Germany after a difficult spell of form for the club.
