FA charges Newcastle and Norwich

Newcastle United and Norwich City have been charged by the Football Association for failing to control their players in the closing stages of the 0-0 Premier League draw at Carrow Road on Jan. 28.

Loic Remy and Bradley Johnson are separated by their teammates after clashing.
The two clubs have until 18:00 GMT on Feb. 5 to respond to the charge

The incident occurred when Loic Remy scuffled with Bradley Johnson in the 82nd minute, with the Newcastle striker appearing to lower his head towards the Norwich midfielder.

Referee Chris Foy showed red cards to both players, which led to a three-match ban for Remy -- though Johnson won his appeal and escaped any punishment.

The FA confirmed that both clubs have been charged via a statement released on its official website on Monday.

The statement read: “Both Norwich City and Newcastle United have been charged by the FA for failing to ensure their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion and/or refrained from provocative behaviour.

“The charge relates to an incident in or around the 82nd minute of their match on Tuesday Jan. 28, 2014.”

The clubs have until 18:00 GMT on Feb. 5 to respond to the charge.
