Matija Nastasic back to full fitness

Matija Nastasic is confident he has put his injury problems behind him and believes he has recovered completely after a spell on the sidelines.

Curtis: City sitting pretty

The Manchester City defender made his first appearance for almost five weeks in Saturday’s 1-0 win over Crystal Palace. And the 20-year-old centre-back, who had suffered a calf strain, admits it is a common complaint in Manuel Pellegrini’s overworked squad.

He said: “At the moment we have some injuries. I was out for a month but now I’m OK. I don’t know why we have calf and hamstring injuries -- maybe because we play a lot of games, and play every three days. My problem is now behind me, and I feel fit and 100 percent ready for games and training.”

Nastasic’s return to fitness was timely with fellow central defender Martin Demichelis joining the injured list ahead of Wednesday’s trip to Swansea.

City face Michael Laudrup’s team in the Premier League on New Year’s Day, followed by Blackburn in the FA Cup on Saturday and then West Ham in the first leg of their Capital One Cup semifinal.

Nastasic added: “They are three hard games and we need to recover. It means spending New Year in South Wales, but that is professional football.”
