McNicholas: Blues frustrate Arsenal

The Brazilian, 20, joined Arsenal in 2010 from Fluminense, but the Football Association refused to grant him a work permit and he was sent out on loan to La Liga club Levante as a result.

He has continued his development with a series of loans in Spain, playing for Alcoyano and Ponferradina, and he is now with Segunda Division side Real Murcia.

Silva is hopeful that he will now secure the passport he requires to link up with his parent squad ahead of the 2014-15 season.

“The passport process is already underway, as there is a law in Spain that you can submit the documents after two years -- in January 2014, I’ll have been here three years, so I hope I will be ready,” he is quoted as saying in Brazilian newspaper O Povo.

“In July, preseason begins in England -- I’ll have my passport and will be ready. I hope I’m given a chance to realise my dream of playing for Arsenal. It’s a strong team and I hope to fit in well.”
