Hicks: Credible point for Swans

Dyer, 26, was stretchered off during the first half at Carrow Road on Sunday and there had been initial fears that he had suffered a fractured ankle, but scans revealed he had suffered only ligament damage.

A statement on the club's official website read: “In-depth scans today [Monday] confirmed that Dyer had escaped a break at the expense of a ruptured lateral ligament. Although there is also further damage to two other ligaments, the news is positive after the club feared the worst when Dyer was transferred by ambulance to hospital at half-time in severe pain.

“Dyer will see another specialist in the next few days after the swelling has gone down before confirming how long he’ll be ruled out for.”

Dyer joined the Swans from Southampton in 2009 and has gone on to be an integral part of the club's success, which included earning promotion to the Premier League in 2011 and success in last season’s Capital One Cup.
