Edin Dzeko never wanted Man City exit

Edin Dzeko has insisted he never tried to leave Manchester City in the summer and said the FA Cup finalists did not attempt to sell him.

Fernandinho: Beating Bayern would top winning derby

The Bosnia international was City’s top scorer last season but appeared unsettled, and was linked with Borussia Dortmund at the end of the campaign.

But he said he is happy he has stayed at the Etihad Stadium and is adamant he did not fuel the reports he might go.

"I think a lot of the speculation was from journalists but I never heard from the club they wanted to sell me or you never heard me I say wanted to leave," he told a media conference ahead of City's Champions League group match against Bayern Munich.

Dzeko, who has scored four times this season, credits new manager Manuel Pellegrini for making him feel wanted at City.

The Chilean said in the summer that Dzeko is his first-choice striker and while he was only on the bench for the Manchester derby, he is heartened that the manager has faith in him.

"I’ve said it before -- the manager is very important and for every player it’s important to know the manager believes in him and that confidence can change everything," he added.
