Roberto Martinez believes he must strengthen Everton in January to offset the threat of losing more of his star names.

Martinez will have money to spend when the transfer window opens in the New Year thanks to some astute business on deadline day earlier this month.
Everton sold midfielder Marouane Fellaini to Manchester United for £27 million and striker Victor Anichebe to West Brom for a fee that could rise to £6 million.
That ensured that Martinez ended the day in profit, as he spent £13 million on Wigan midfielder James McCarthy and brought in two players -- Manchester City’s Gareth Barry and Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku -- on loan.
Everton managed to keep hold of left-back Leighton Baines in the face of Manchester United interest, but Martinez is expecting more offers for his key players in January.
And the manager believes he must keep bringing in new faces to ensure the squad is strong enough to maintain a fine start to the Premier League season – with the club in sixth place after five games.
“We’re in the position where we’ve got a bit of money to try to improve the squad in the next window," Martinez told the Liverpool Daily Post. "And we’re going to do that from window to window.
“We have to, because I’m sure that next time, the question will be: ‘Who are we going to lose now?’ So improving the squad goes without saying.
“We have got a little bit of money, and will always carry on trying to identify targets to that can help the group. That will never stop, and it will be the same in the window coming.
“It would be daft from our point of view not to try to help the team we have. Of course we have a very strong team but you always need to be prepared to help the players that we have and use every window to our advantage.
“Over the next three or four months, I’ll have a clear idea as to what we need to do. At the moment, on paper we’re very strong in every area but football doesn’t work like that.
“Players have moments of form, suffer injuries, and form certain partnerships that allow you to collect information for the next window.”
