Assaidi: I'll take Stoke chance

On-loan Stoke winger Oussama Assaidi has said he is determined to make the most of his second chance in the Premier League after a difficult 12 months at Liverpool.

Assaidi found life frustrating at Liverpool last season.

Assaidi has joined Stoke for the season, becoming the fourth signing made by manager Mark Hughes, and his arrival could trigger the departure of Michael Kightly from the Britannia Stadium.

He also had offers to move to Holland or Belgium and was linked with a loan move to Championship Queens Park Rangers. 

The Morocco international joined Liverpool from Dutch club Heerenveen last summer, but made only 12 appearances for Brendan Rodgers’ side.

"It was frustrating last season, especially having not been given too many opportunities on the pitch, but I am here now and I am looking forward to playing in the Premier League," Assaidi said.

"When I did play last season, I thought I did well, and the experiences I did have on the field have given me an understanding of what to expect in the Premier League.

"I am a forward-thinking player and I enjoy scoring goals and helping to make goals. I feel I can fit in here well and help the team to progress.

"I had a number of options available to me, but I really feel that this is the best one for me. I am excited about what the season holds for us.”

Kightly is now expected to be allowed to leave. A number of Championship sides are considering making a loan move for the winger, but it is believed Stoke would prefer a permanent sale.

Another Stoke player who could be on the move is England goalkeeper Jack Butland, with Sheffield Wednesday the latest Championship club to have asked about taking him on loan.
