Spurs held by Colchester, Swans cruise

Tottenham were held to a goalless draw by Colchester despite taking a strong squad to the Weston Homes Community Stadium.

The Spurs starting line-up included Brad Friedel Jan Vertonghen and Emmanuel Adebayor.

Despite also having Scott Parker and Jermain Defoe on the bench, Spurs were kept at bay.

Gareth Bale and Aaron Lennon missed out after picking up knocks in training.

Swansea won 5-0 against Yeovil as Michu, Nathan Dyer, Pablo Hernandez, Rory Donnelly and Alejandro Pozuelo were all on target.

Michel Vorm also pulled off three fine saves to help Michael Laudrup's side keep a clean sheet against their Championship hosts at Huish Park.

Laudrup took a strong side to face Yeovil which also included Jonathan De Guzman and Jonjo Shelvey.

Swansea continue their pre-season build-up with a game at Exeter on Sunday.

Information from the Press Association was used in this report.
