Sunderland have signed France youth international El-Hadji Ba from Le Havre, L'Equipe has reported.
A product of the famed Le Havre youth academy, the 20-year-old refused a contract extension with the club in April and has now confirmed he will sign a three-year-deal on Wearside.
Costing the club in the region of €400k compensation, the France Under-20 international admitted he was keen to follow former Le Havre graduate Paul Pogba in moving to England.
"He is definitely the one for me to follow in his footsteps at the moment," Ba said in March. "Pogba is doing very well and I am happy for him to be playing for one of the top teams in the world in Juventus.
"I want to improve, and it is very good to hear that clubs have been scouting me. I would love to play in England one day. If teams have a good enough offer, then they (Le Havre) will let me go."
Making 12 appearances last season in Ligue 2, Ba netted one goal and becomes Sunderland's fourth signing of the week after Valentin Roberge, Modibo Diakite and Cabral were confirmed on Monday evening.
