Ramos: Bale would be a Real success

Former Tottenham and Real Madrid manager Juande Ramos has suggested Gareth Bale has the quality and personality to succeed should he move between the clubs this summer.

Bale has been heavily linked with a £60 million transfer to the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu in the Spanish media, while Blancos defender Sergio Ramos said this week that everyone at Madrid had been impressed by the Wales international’s spectacular performances this season.

However reports in England suggest he is more likely to sign a new deal to remain at White Hart Lane despite Spurs missing out on Champions League qualification for next term.

Ex-Madrid coach Ramos - currently in charge of Ukrainian side Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk - said that if a move did go through Bale, who turns 24 in July, would have no problems fitting in at the Bernabeu. "

Bale is a magnificent player,” Ramos said. “At 20 he already had a strong personality. He would adapt perfectly to another club. He is very powerful with an excellent left foot.”

Bale made just 12 appearances under Ramos during their one year together in London, after an ankle injury suffered in December 2007 saw the then full-back miss the remainder of the season.

The Castilian said he regretted not having had the opportunity to use Bale more, as he could see even then that he was a “special player”.

“He suffered a serious injury and was out for eight months,” Ramos said. “I would have liked to have been able to count on him more. His performance this season has not surprised me. Even then you could see he had special characteristics.”
