Hamburg sporting director Frank Arnesen has urged Danish compatriot Nicklas Bendtner to join a smaller club if he wants his to career progress.
Notorious for his ego, the on-loan Arsenal striker has previously talked about being one of the best strikers in the world and is currently on a short-term deal with Serie A leaders Juventus.
However , the Denmark international has made just three starts for the Bianconeri and Arnesen - a former director of football at Tottenham and Chelsea - is convinced that Bendtner must lower his expectations if he is to avoid letting his career stagnate.
"He must take a step down and choose a good club where he can rediscover the joy of playing and play a lot," Arnesen told newspaper Politiken. “
"He said no to me twice because he wanted to play in an even bigger club. He must make sure he is always in the best shape and so he should be more humble and think about how he can get the most out of his talent."
Bentdner is set to return to Arsenal at the end of the season but is facing an uncertain future, with Arnesen ruling out a third bid for the forward.
