Ba would welcome future move to PSG

Demba Ba has admitted he would love to play for boyhood idols Paris Saint-Germain, but insists he is concentrating solely on getting current club Newcastle United up the Premier League table.

Demba Ba has had a superb season so far
Demba Ba has attracted the attention of clubs around Europe after starring for Newcastle since arriving last summer

- Ba sends out Arsenal signal

Ba, 27, has been linked with a move away from the North East with a clause in his contract making the Senegal international one of the most tempting bargains in the January transfer window at a cut-price €7 million.

In search of a quality forward, Arsenal are thought to top the list of admirers for the striker, who has 11 goals in 18 appearances for the Magpies this season, but Ba acknowledged he would happily move to the French capital should his first footballing love, PSG, make an approach.

“I’ve never hidden my affection for the club which I’ve supported since I was very small. Right now, they’re doing some really big things, and have big projects for the future,” Ba, who was born on the outskirts of Paris, told radio station RMC. “Of course I’d like to play in the colours of the team that I support.”

PSG coach Carlo Ancelotti has repeatedly insisted Brazilian midfielder Lucas Moura, who tied up a move to the Parc des Princes last summer, would be the only January addition to his squad. However, though he recently reiterated that that remained the club’s plan, the Italian also kept the door open for potential further arrivals.

Ba’s name is yet to appear among the long list of players linked to PSG, however, and the ex-Hoffenheim and West Ham United forward insisted his sole thought for the moment is Newcastle’s Premier League plight.

“Like Arsenal, [a move to PSG] is something which is still really far away. For the moment, I’m focusing on what I have to do in my club: get Newcastle out of the mess in which we find ourselves. But it’s true PSG are a special club for me.”
