Barcelona B defender Moussa Wague condemns Ejea fans' racism

Barcelona B defender Moussa Wague has apologised for hitting an SD Ejea supporter but said he had been provoked by "numerous and repeated racist insults" during Sunday's game between the sides.

Senegal international Wague was sent off in the second half after tangling with a home fan as he tried to get the ball back for a throw-in.

Wague, 20, said sorry but said he had been subjected to racist abuse by Ejea supporters throughout the match.

"I want to apologise to SD Ejea and the club's fans for my conduct during the game," he wrote on Instagram.

"In a moment when we were trying to come from behind in the match, I did not behave as I should and I recognise that. I apologise for that.

"I also want to report that my actions, in trying to get the ball back from a fan to take a throw-in, came after being the object of numerous and repeated racists insults. That should never have to be tolerated on a football pitch."

Wague, who scored for Senegal at the World Cup, is in his first season at Barcelona after signing from Belgian side KAS Eupen.

The right-back did not make his B team debut until October due to bureaucratic issues, but has quickly established himself in Garcia Pimienta's side and was on the bench for the first team's Copa del Rey game at Levante.
