Andre Gomes, Denis Suarez fly back to Barcelona with injuries

LOS ANGELES -- Andre Gomes and Denis Suarez will both return to Spain after picking up hamstring injuries in Barcelona's International Champions Cup game against Tottenham on Saturday.

Both midfielders were withdrawn in the first half of the 2-2 draw and will now undergo further tests back in Spain.

Barca fear that Gomes could be out for two months, while Denis is expected to be sidelined for a few weeks.

Gomes, who turns 25 this week, had been expected to leave the club this summer, with Arsenal among the interested parties. But he is now likely to stay until at least January.

Denis, meanwhile, had been hoping to take advantage of the departures of Andres Iniesta and Paulinho this summer to make his case for a regular spot in Ernesto Valverde's side.

However, those hopes have now been dashed. And by the time he returns to full fitness, Ivan Rakitic and Sergio Busquets will also be back from their post-World Cup break.

Barcelona beat Tottenham after penalties in the friendly match on Saturday.

The La Liga champions fly to Dallas on Sunday ahead of Tuesday's game against Roma and will then move on to San Francisco, where they will play AC Milan next weekend.
