Barcelona and Ivan Rakitic showed Granada a 'lack of respect' - Alcaraz

Ivan Rakitic and Barcelona have been criticised by Granada coach Lucas Alcaraz after the midfielder was caught on video insulting on-loan Manchester United player Andreas Pereira during Barcelona's 4-1 win at Nuevo Los Carmenes on Sunday.

In television images from the El Golazo show on Gol TV, Rakitic appeared to shout: "Down to the second division you son of a b----, you're going down."

Alcaraz thinks Rakitic's words were disrespectful towards his club who are 19th in La Liga and battling relegation.

"Players in the big teams in Spain can do whatever they like. Of course this was a lack of respect to the club and they should have made it right," he said at a news conference on Tuesday.

"If a player from a big team does it, it's because it's in the heat of the moment, but if a player from a small team does it, it's because he's called shameless."

Rakitic scored later in the match with a deflected strike as Barcelona closed the gap on Real Madrid to two points at the top of La Liga, while Granada are eight points away from safety after 29 games.
