Barcelona's Arda Turan sidelined for three weeks with groin problem

Barcelona midfielder Arda Turan has been ruled out of action for the next three weeks with a groin injury, the club confirmed on Wednesday.

Turan, 30, played the whole 90 minutes of Turkey's 2-0 win over Finland in Friday's World Cup qualifier, but missed the 3-1 friendly victory against Moldova on Monday after hurting his right groin.

Tests carried out on Wednesday have since determined the extent of the injury and a statement from Barcelona read: "Medical tests conducted this Wednesday morning have confirmed that first team player Arda Turan has an injury to the adductor muscle in his right groin. He is expected to be unavailable for about three weeks."

The Turkey captain will miss Barca's next four La Liga games as well as the Champions League quarterfinal first leg away to Juventus on April 11.

Turan is expected to recover in time for the second La Liga Clasico of the season between Barca and Real Madrid on April 23 at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The midfielder has started in 13 league games for Barca this season, scoring three goals and setting up three more. He has also scored four goals in five Champions League appearances for the Catalan club.

Barca are currently second in La Liga, two points adrift of leaders Real Madrid, who have a game in hand. They next play away to Granada on Sunday.
