Barcelona vice-president Susana Monje resigns for personal reasons

Barcelona vice-president Susana Monje has resigned from her position due to personal reasons, the club confirmed on Saturday.

President Josep Maria Bartomeu, who expressed his respect for Monje's decision, will temporarily take on the responsibilities that she held until the club decide on a replacement.

One of five vice-presidents at Barca, Monje had overseen the financial area of the club since 2015.

During here time in that role the Catalan club produced the highest turnover in its history, posting results of €679 million in the 2015-16 season.

In addition to that, she has also helped lower the total debt to €271m and a statement thanks her for "leaving the club in a solid financial situation."

Prior to becoming vice-president, she had previously worked as the club's treasurer for five years and in the 2014-15 season she was also the director responsible for the Handball section of the club.

Manel Arroyo, Jordi Mestre, Carles Vilarrubi and Jordi Cardoner are the Blaugrana's other four vice-presidents and they all remain in their positions.
