Neymar won't be rested for Barcelona despite Clasico suspension threat

Barcelona forward Neymar will play against Real Sociedad this weekend despite the risk of missing next Saturday's game against Real Madrid if he's booked.

Neymar has been walking the suspension tightrope since he landed his fourth caution of the season in the win over Sevilla earlier this month and another yellow card at Anoeta on Sunday would rule him out of the Clasico on Dec. 3.

However, it's not something which has crossed Luis Enrique's mind ahead of the trip to San Sebastian.

"No, not at all," Luis Enrique responded in a news conference when asked if he's considered not playing the Brazilian. "I won't rest Neymar. For me, there's just one game: Real Sociedad. We get the same amount of points for winning there as we do for beating Madrid."

The manager doesn't think it's a factor which will hinder the 24-year-old's performance, either, adding: "I don't think Neymar will play differently at all."

While Neymar will play, Barca have lost Arda Turan at the last minute to a fever. The midfielder missed training on Friday and Saturday and will not make the trip to Basque Country.

The Blaugrana are also without Andres Iniesta and Samuel Umtiti, although both have now returned to training and Luis Enrique is hopeful that they could be available for the Madrid game.

"I'm optimistic about Umtiti and Iniesta," he added. "When [they'll be back] exactly depends on their recoveries, but they're both doing well.

"Andres been training for a couple of days now, which is very good news. Umtiti has done some work with us [on Saturday], but it will depend on the medical team when they come back."

Gerard Pique will be available, though, despite having to be taken off against Celtic and missing training on Friday.

The centre-back returned from an ankle problem against Malaga, but hurt his foot in that game and Luis Enrique admitted that he is having to play through the pain barrier at the moment with defenders Umtiti and Jeremy Mathieu unavailable.

"[Pique] took a knock against Malaga, so he's been doing different kinds of work, in the gym, resting," Luis Enrique explained.

"There's anything to be too concerned about. It's a contact sport, players take knocks and sometimes play with pain, but it doesn't mean they can't play and that's the situation with Gerard."
