Barcelona's Arda Turan and Rafinha out vs. Valencia due to injuries

Both Arda Turan and Rafinha have been ruled out of Barcelona's La Liga game against Valencia on Saturday.

The news comes after the Catalan club confirmed on Thursday that defensive duo Gerard Pique and Jordi Alba -- who both went off in the first half of the four-goal win over Manchester City -- would be sidelined for three and two weeks respectively.

Turkish international Turan hurt his elbow in a training session on Friday, and Barca said in a statement that he will be absent for this weekend's match.

However, they did not confirm how long he will be out for, saying that his progress will be monitored in the coming days.

The same is true for Rafinha, who picked up a rib injury in the same training session and will remain in Catalonia over the weekend.

Both Turan and Rafinha have been among the club's more impressive performers this season as they've made their case to be included in Luis Enrique's first team on a more regular basis.

Turan, who joined the Blaugrana from Atletico Madrid in 2015, has scored five goals, while Rafinha, who's played in a range of positions already this season, has weighed in with four.

With goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen also injured, Luis Enrique has been left with just 17 fit players for the game against Valencia.

Therefore he's been forced to delve into Barca B, with Carles Alena called up.

The 18-year-old was also part of the first team squad for last season's Copa del Rey semifinal at the Mestalla, but he's yet to make his full debut.
