Barcelona star Neymar vows not to change 'showboating' playing style

Barcelona forward Neymar has said he will not change his style of play even though his "showboating" has incensed some opponents.

Brazil international Neymar was substituted during his country's 5-0 win over Bolivia on Oct. 7 after being elbowed in the face by Yasmani Duk when he attempted to pass the ball through the striker's legs.

Duk said after the game he had elbowed Neymar because he had shown a "lack of respect."

But El Mundo Deportivo reported Neymar as saying: "They can kick me and elbow me, but not every player in the world can dribble, that is getting harder and harder to do.

"I'm definitely not going to change. Players have to know when they face me that I have my own way of playing and that is dribbling, scoring goals and helping my teammates.

"I'm happy playing that way -- and if they don't like it there's nothing I can do."

There has been increasing debate about Neymar's style, with former Barcelona and Denmark midfielder Michael Laudrup voicing disapproval after Barca's win over Leganes last month.

Neymar is expected to start along with Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi for the fourth time this season in Saturday's home game against Deportivo La Coruna.

Messi, sidelined since injuring his groin in the draw with Atletico Madrid last month, returned to training on Wednesday.

And Neymar said: "The magic of the trident is in the friendship we have on and off the pitch. We always help each other out."
