Barcelona's Marc-Andre ter Stegen keen to extend contract - agent

Marc-Andre ter Stegen is ready to commit his future to Barcelona, according to the player's agent, after the club ignored a number of offers for their goalkeeper in the summer.

Ter Stegen, 24, spent the first two years at Barca sharing goalkeeping duties with Claudio Bravo, but the Chilean's transfer to Manchester City has seen him become the club's outright No. 1 in all competitions.

And after Blaugrana president Josep Maria Bartomeu said the club are mulling over a new deal for the Germany international, Gerd vom Bruch has revealed his client is more than open to extending his stay in Catalonia.

"He wanted to play more and there was interest in him from some big clubs," Vom Bruch told Diari Ara. "Barca said that there was no way they would let him go, though, and we accepted that.

"Now Marc's in the position which he himself had set as his target, starting in the league and in Europe. [Bartomeu's comments] were a sign of appreciation and he can see himself renewing his contract with Barca."

Pep Guardiola's City were one of the clubs reported to maintain an interest in Ter Stegen before they signed Bravo, but Vom Bruch would not reveal which sides made offers.

Ter Stegen, whose current terms expire in 2019, is one of a number of players at Barca who are expected to receive new deals in the coming months.

Sergio Busquets and Neymar have both recently signed extensions, while Bartomeu has said that Ivan Rakitic, Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi are all in line to prolong their contracts as well.

Meanwhile, Andres Iniesta has played down claims he's putting pressure on the board for a new deal.

The midfielder is out of contract in 2018, but made it clear earlier this week he would like to remain at the club beyond then.
