Barcelona's Andres Iniesta has no plans to become a manager

Barcelona captain Andres Iniesta cannot see himself following Pep Guardiola and Luis Enrique into management when he decides it's time to hang up his boots.

The midfielder, 32, feels he still has more years to give Barca on the pitch and revealed he's not a fan of planning too far ahead.

However, he added that while he does see himself linked with football after retirement, he doesn't anticipate being a manager.

"I don't look to the future much," Iniesta said in an interview with El Transistor on Onda Cero. "I focus on the present, the short-term and enjoy it.

"In the future I broadly see myself being involved with football, but I don't see myself as a first-team manager.

"I don't have that streak in me, but I wouldn't rule it out completely."

Former teammate Xavi, who formed a midfield partnership with Iniesta for club and country which yielded Champions League and World Cup titles, has previously said he does envisage himself taking charge at Barca.

The 36-year-old is currently playing for Qatari side Al Sadd but is already focused on completing his coaching badges with the goal of one day taking over at Barca.

"Coaching Barca is one of the ideas I have," he said in a recent interview with Cadena Ser. "I don't know if it will all come together, but I like coaching more and more every day."

Xavi also revealed to Sport that Catalan defender Gerard Pique has even drawn up a plan for a future Barcelona run completely by ex-players, although Iniesta was lacking from his blueprint.

Pique sees himself as the president one day, with Carles Puyol acting as sporting director and Xavi as first team coach assisted by Sergio Busquets.
