Barcelona's Luis Enrique: All the games are key now in La Liga title race

Barcelona coach Luis Enrique said his team were ready for more surprises as they prepare for Saturday evening's La Liga game with relegation threatened Sporting Gijon at the Camp Nou.

After losing three straight La Liga games, Barca won 8-0 at Deportivo La Coruna midweek, to maintain their lead in the table on head-to-head record over Atletico Madrid, with Real Madrid just one point further back in third spot.

As the season reaches its decisive stage with all teams having just four games left to play, Atletico face mid-table Malaga at home on Saturday, with Madrid travelling to a Rayo Vallecano side who need points badly to secure safety.

Barca appear to have a relatively straightforward closing fixture list over the final weeks, but the Luis Enrique said he and his team were well aware that unexpected results were common at this point in the campaign.

"In previous seasons there have always been surprise results over the last games," he told a news conference. "Some teams have nothing to lose. We must be ready for that, and we will. All the games are key now. We need to win our last four games -- as do those teams coming from behind. These four games are vital."

Wednesday's hammering of Deportivo had been a useful boost for Barcelona, according to the manager, while he claimed again that the results in the previous games had not reflected how well his side had been playing.

"The result was perfect for us, reinforces our situation, which had got difficult with past results," he added. "Some were fair, some unfair. We were much better against Valencia, created even more chances than against Depor. But the result was marvellous for us. I still see the team playing well, capable of winning all the games they have left. We now have four games to play, it is very interesting for everyone, at the top and bottom of the league."

Although Luis Suarez scored four and assisted three of Barca's goals at Riazor, Luis Enrique said that all of the team had played well and deserved to share the accolades.

"When things go badly, we do not point to individuals, and when we do well it is to do with all the team," he said. "The keepers, defenders, and midfielders need to do well, so the forwards can finish. To score four goals deserves a lot of praise, but the whole team also deserve merit."

Meanwhile, repeated questions about whether his front three of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar were undroppable were brushed aside.

"I make changes when I see the chance to improve the team," Luis Enrique said. "Or when a player needs a rest. When I don't see either of those things, I do not make a change. Last year I rotated too much, this year not enough. I can never please all of you guys."

Sporting remain in serious relegation trouble as they sit 18th in the table, although they did gain hope with Wednesday's last gasp 2-1 win at home to Sevilla.

The game is likely to be extra special for Gijon native and former Sporting player Luis Enrique -- a close friend and former teammate of the Asturian side's current coach Abelardo. A third ex-Sporting and Barca star, Quini, is to be honoured before the game at the Camp Nou, something which the current Barca coach said he fully agreed with.

"I am a Sporting fan in my heart," Luis Enrique said. "It is fantastic for me -- Quini is a god for Sporting fans. I had the chance to train with him, which was a dream for me."

Alen Halilovic, on loan from Barca at Sporting, fell out of favour recently having impressed earlier in the season, although he did start the midweek game against Sevilla.

"Halilovic started playing a lot of games, but he has played less recently," Luis Enrique said. "For sure he has many things to improve. We will talk about the situation with the technical staff in the summer."
