Ivan Rakitic's calf injury won't rule him out of El Clasico - Ante Cacic

Ivan Rakitic's calf injury is not severe enough to rule the midfielder out of Barcelona's Clasico with Real Madrid on April 2, according to Croatia head coach Ante Cacic.

Results from an MRI scan on Tuesday means that the 28-year-old will be omitted from Croatia's upcoming friendly matches with Israel and Hungary.

Cacic, however, moved to assure Barca fans that Rakitic would still be available for the Catalans once the international break was over.

"Rakitic will have further medical tests but our doctors are optimistic and he should return to normal work with Barcelona soon," he told reporters.

"He will be fit for El Clasico, no doubt. It is minor injury, a partial calf rupture."

Rakitic's teammate Sergio Busquets has also been withdrawn from international duty due to a broken finger.
