Neymar says he wants to extend Barcelona contract after scoring twice

Neymar said he wants to extend his Barcelona contract after scoring more in Saturday's 4-0 La Liga win against Real Sociedad at the Camp Nou.

La Liga leaders Barca strolled to victory against the Basque side -- with Neymar and Luis Suarez scoring in the first half, and the Brazilian netting his second after the break before Lionel Messi wrapped up the scoring late on.

The latest display from the Catalan side's superstar attacking trio showed just how well they dove-tail on the pitch, and comes amid further speculation of behind-the-scenes negotiations about a new deal that would tie reported Manchester United target Neymar to Barca for a further three years until 2021.

Neymar's father has maintained that continuing tax and legal issues around the former Santos starlet's controversial summer 2014 arrival at Barca need to be resolved before any new contract is signed, but the player himself told Catalan TV3 after Saturday's game that if all goes to plan he will commit his long-term future to his current club.

"I still have some years left on my contract," Neymar said. "I know my father speaks about my future. We are talking about extending the contract, because that is what I want to do."

With Neymar and Suarez having already scored, the pair appeared to spend much of the second half of Saturday's game looking to tee up teammate Messi, and both were involved before the No. 10 netted in injury time -- making this the first time this season that all three members of the "MSN" trident had found the net.

Neymar admitted that with the game won he had been trying to help his friend get a first La Liga goal since Sept. 20.

"It is true that in the end I as looking for Leo, for him to score," he said. "Off the pitch, he helps us a lot. I am happy when Suarez and Messi score -- and they are when I do it."

Neymar currently heads La Liga's pichichi top scorer race with 14 goals, with Suarez in second on 12, current holder Cristiano Ronaldo of Real Madrid joint-fourth with eight, and Messi well back on just four strikes after missing two months of the season with a knee injury.

"I feel good, very happy for all we are doing," Neymar said. "Our team is playing very well. I want to help my teammates, to keep scoring goals and giving assists. This was a very important victory for us. Things came out well."
