Luis Suarez: Barcelona have the duty to win everything

Luis Suarez said Barcelona must look to "win everything" again as he plays a full part in preseason training for the first time in six years.

Uruguay international Suarez missed the opening months of last season as he served out a FIFA ban for biting Italy defender Giorgio ChielliniĀ at the World Cup, only making his Barca debut in October.

He also missed out on the chance to play for Uruguay at this summer's Copa America as the FIFA punishment included a nine-game international suspension.

That meant the former Ajax and Liverpool star was able to play a full part in Barca's preparations this summer, having missed out on preseason training in the past as the result of suspensions, transfers and international commitments.

"The motivation to be able to take part in preseason is different, without a doubt," Suarez said in an interview with AS. "I think it has been six years since I last took part in a full preseason.

"I wasn't able to train and play with the team last season for several months. We have a good group that is leaving everything it has on the field in each training session for the good of the team."

Suarez scored in Barca's first preseason game, a 2-1 win over LA Galaxy in Tuesday's International Champions Cup clash at the Rose Bowl in California.

He said his preparations this summer should see him start the 2015-16 campaign in great condition.

"Last season I lacked rhythm in my first few games and I hope that this year that doesn't happen," he said. "I'm working very hard to be in shape and enjoy a great season at Barcelona with the rest of my teammates."

Suarez, who helped Barca to success in La Liga, the Copa del Rey and the Champions League in his debut season, has a reputation for his commitment in training.

Former Liverpool fitness coach Darren Burgess told the Liverpool Echo: "There were times in preseason with Luis when you'd have to take him out of training. He wanted to do too much -- he lives and breathes football."

Despite starting late for Barca, Suarez scored 17 goals in 26 appearances for the Blaugrana.

"You never think that you are going to win a treble," Suarez said. "It's something so complicated to achieve that only a few clubs are able to achieve this.

"You can imagine what it meant for me -- my first year at Barca, and how we achieved it."

Barca have the possibility of lifting three additional trophies in 2015. They will play in the UEFA Super Cup, the Spanish Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup.

"All the titles are beautiful and wonderful to win," Suarez said. "They are all dreams that can be accomplished.

"When you are at this club, you have the duty to win everything and I want to be able to win everything again. I'm here to help the team as much as I can, whether it's with goals or setting up my teammates to score.

"What is important is the collective. We have important aims ahead of us and we need to be ready."
