Luis Enrique on Barcelona Treble: 'We have two now, but we want the third'

Barcelona coach Luis Enrique said it was two down, one to go after his team completed the domestic double with Saturday evening's 3-1 Copa del Rey final victory over Athletic Bilbao at the Camp Nou.

Lionel Messi was once again the game's outstanding performer -- opening the scoring with an outstanding solo goal and adding a well-taken second midway after the break.

Neymar was also on the scoresheet for Barca, with 20-year-old Inaki Williams adding a late consolation for the Basque side, who were cheered throughout by an outstanding travelling support.

Having sealed the sixth Liga and Copa double in the club's history, Barca now travel to Berlin to take on Juventus in next Saturday's Champions League final, and the chance to finish off just a second club Treble.

The blaugrana coach, who had become just the fourth figure in Barca history to win the Copa as both player and coach, said in his post-game news conference that neither he nor his players were stopping to celebrate just yet.

"We have two [trophies] now, but we want the third," Luis Enrique said. "That would be truly superb. That is the attitude this team has, this club has. It is nice to be able to enjoy this, even though the cules were outnumbered, they were noisier, and we were able to make them happy. We want to take the chance to enter into history again."

Luis Enrique said he had been close to Messi when he started off on the run that took him past four markers before hammering in the opening goal.

"[Athletic right-back Mikel] Balenziaga was on top of him, with help from other players, as we saw in the goal," the manager said. "Balenziaga is a very good player, but it is difficult to stop Messi. He is the best player in the world.

"I saw it live, it was right in front of where we were, so it was hard to take it all in. I want to see it on TV now. He is surrounded by teammates of such quality too. It is such a pleasure to watch him."

Blaugrana captain Xavi Hernandez came off the bench in the second half, and then lifted the trophy after the game, as he won his 24th winners medal over a Barca career that is set to end next weekend.

"He is the Barca player with most trophies in history, that is what he represents," Luis Enrique said of his one-time teammate. "Now he wants another Champions league, and is getting to leave Barca by the front door. It would have been a little ugly if Xavi had left last year, with no trophies won. It was a pity [former captain Carles] Puyol left like that."

Xavi had replaced fellow long-serving midfielder Andres Iniesta, who Luis Enrique said had picked up a knock, but the issue did not appear serious enough to put his participation in next week's game in any doubt.

"Iniesta had a little problem, but he was able to take place in celebration," he said. "So we hope it is nothing important, and he can play in Berlin. It will be very difficult, against a squad also looking for the treble. We will have to play a perfect game."

The evening's most controversial moment came when Neymar annoyed some Athletic players with some tricks late on when the game had already been decided, and Luis Enrique said he understood the Basque players' frustration at the Brazilian.

"I do, yes," he said. "If I was an Athletic player, for sure I would have reacted the same, or worse. In Brazil it is normal, it is difficult to explain to him, but we will try to control that, with time."
