Luis Suarez: Barcelona must target Real Madrid's 'defensive weakness'

Luis Suarez says Barcelona can take advantage of Real Madrid's "weakness at the back" in Sunday's La Liga Clasico at the Camp Nou.

Madrid come into the game having picked up just one win in four games, and with many fans and pundits questioning the contribution of attackers Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale.

However, Suarez told Gol Television that while Madrid had great quality going forward, their defence was not at the same standard.

"Obviously Real Madrid is Real Madrid," Suarez said. "You cannot say any more because everyone knows the quality of players they have on the pitch, from midfield to up front. But we know the defensive weaknesses they have too, and we must try to take advantage of them. In Barcelona-Real Madrid you never know what can happen in the 90 minutes."

This will not be Suarez's first experience of a Clasico in the Camp Nou, having attended the 5-0 win by Pep Guardiola's Barca team in November 2010 when he an Ajax player -- he was unable to play that weekend for his team as he was serving a ban for biting PSV Eindhoven's Otman Bakkal on the shoulder.

"I remember well that 5-0 because I was at the stadium," Suarez said. "These are moments that stay with you -- how the fans enjoyed it, how the players enjoyed themselves out on the pitch -- it was incredible."

Suarez made his delayed Barca debut in October's reverse fixture at the Santiago Bernabeu, when Neymar shot the side into an early lead, before Madrid rallied back to run out deserved 3-1 winners.

"I tried not to think too much about what was going on around the game and just focus on playing well," Suarez said. "Being my first game, I did not enjoy it in the way you must enjoy a Barcelona vs. Real Madrid match, and how I hope to do so this time."

The €80 million summer signing from Liverpool scored just six goals in his first 20 games for Barca, but now has seven in his last seven in all competitions.

"A forward always enjoys scoring goals which give him more confidence," Suarez said. "But in my case, I like to help the team a lot, in whatever moment. When you do not score goals, or do not feel important, you can criticise yourself. But at this moment, I could not feel more relaxed.

"It is important that as a forward I am bringing goals. I do not listen much to those who criticise me for not scoring, as now if I listened I would believe I am the big star. So it is better not to give it too much importance."

Playing alongside Lionel Messi for Barca was a fantastic and often surprising experience, Suarez added.

"For the majority of the people he is the best player in the world, by far, for all he does on the pitch," he said. "He does things that no other player can do, incredible things.

"For example, there are times when he plays a pass you are not expecting because there are a lot of [opposition players'] legs -- as has happened to me many times. And, well, you must enjoy and take advantage of the chance to play with this class of player.

"He keeps showing day to day that he does not get bored scoring goals, achieving things, and that shows how professional and how great he is."

Suarez said that Neymar, the third member of Barca's all-South American attack, also had the quality to become the world's best player in the future.

"He is young, but he could become, he will become, the best in the world because he has everything to do it -- a lot of quality, scores goals, plays for the team," Suarez said. "There are times when people doubt, but he is very much a team player.

"He is learning a lot from the players around him, and we are also learning from him because he also does things which surprise you. With Leo [Messi], with Andres [Iniesta], with 'Ney' [Neymar], I am enjoying having the chance to play alongside players of such quality."
