Pep Guardiola to return to Camp Nou for Barcelona vs. Man City - report

Pep Guardiola will return to watch a match at the Camp Nou on Wednesday for the first time since he resigned as Barcelona coach three years ago, according to AS.

Guardiola, 44, returns to his native Spain this week to see Atletico Madrid's Champions League round-of-16 second-leg match against Bayer Leverkusen on Tuesday, before heading north to see his former side host Manchester City the following evening.

The Bayern Munich boss saw his own side reach the quarterfinals last week with an emphatic 7-0 win over Shakhtar Donetsk last week, and Spanish sports daily AS reports that he has made the trip to scout potential opponents in the next round after giving his players some time off this week.

Guardiola came through Barcelona's youth system as a player and helped the club to win their first European Cup in 1992. After being appointed their head coach in 2008, he then led the club to three La Liga titles and two Champions League triumphs in a glorious four-year spell before quitting in 2012.

He then spent some time away from football, living in New York, but returned to Europe in January 2013 when it was announced that he would take over from Jupp Heynckes at Bayern at the end of that season.

AS reports that Guardiola still holds a season ticket at the Camp Nou, and plans to watch the game against City -- which Barca lead 2-1 on aggregate -- with family members rather than in the VIP section.
