Barcelona 'set to learn fate on FIFA transfer ban ahead of Dec. 31'

Barcelona are due to find out before Dec. 31 if the ban preventing them from making any new signings during the next two transfer windows will be reviewed, according to Ara.

In April, FIFA banned Barca from bringing in new signings after the club were found guilty of breaching regulations in place to avoid the exploitation and trafficking of young players.

FIFA agreed to suspend the measure pending an appeal, only for that appeal to then be rejected by world football's governing body in August.

Barca immediately signalled their intention to take their case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in a final bid to get the ban overturned, and have since, according to Mundo Deportivo, had a fast-track appeal accepted.

The case will now be heard by CAS on Dec. 4 and 5, with submissions due from FIFA and Barca, and a final decision is expected to be announced before the turn of the year.

The Catalan club are hopeful that FIFA will reduce the ban to allow them to bring in new players next summer, although they are resigned to having to remain inactive during the January transfer window.
