Soaring Sydney FC seven points from sealing A-League record

Sydney FC coach Graham Arnold has declared his all-conquering team will continue to ruthlessly chase history in a bid to rewrite the A-League's record books.

The Sky Blues clinched the coveted Premiers' Plate after Melbourne Victory's loss to the Brisbane Roar on Saturday night and celebrated in style with a decisive 3-0 away victory over Perth Glory on Sunday.

They are an astonishing 14 points clear of second-placed Melbourne Victory with three matches remaining.

After winning their first piece of silverware in seven years, the Sky Blues moved to 59 points eclipsing the Western Sydney Wanderers' record of 57 points in a 27-round season and are closing in on the overall landmark achieved by the Roar of 65 points in 2010-11.

Arnold said there would be no respite from the group despite having already secured the premiership.

"We are striving every week to break more records and that is the motivation until the finals series," he said.

"We have more goals to achieve, there is no foot off the pedal. The attitude and commitment and will from my players ... there will be no chance of anyone dropping off. If someone drops off on the pitch, they will find themselves on the bench pretty quickly."

Arnold said his team "embraced" being hailed the greatest-ever A-League team by pundits.

"[It is] much better than being called the worst team ever," he said.

"They wanted to win today, that's all they were thinking. It's about winning and performing every game."

Having lost three games to the Sky Blues this season by three-goal margins, Perth coach Kenny Lowe admitted the Glory had been outclassed by a "very good side."

"They are the best away team...they are well capable of winning on the road," he said. "We're not the only team to get touched up by them."

The fifth-placed Glory now face an uphill battle to make the top four and secure a coveted home final, sitting four points behind the Roar and third-placed Melbourne City, but Lowe said his team would "embrace" the challenge.

"The home final is still there for us," he said.

"There will be more twists and turns. The pressure is always on."
