Bozanic brace sees Melbourne Victory beat Western Sydney Wanderers 2-0

Melbourne Victory stunned A-League leaders Western Sydney Wanderers 2-0 at the AAMI Park on Friday.

Midfielder Oliver Bozanic opened the scoring in just the third minute, controlling a Kosta Barbarouses cross and burying a low shot into the bottom corner.

And it was Bozanic who stretched the Victory's lead midway through the second half, poking home from close range to snuff out any hopes of a Wanderers comeback.

The win consolidates Melbourne Victory's place in the playoff spots, moving them six points clear of chasing Sydney FC with three rounds remaining.

Defeat for Western Sydney Wanderers gives Brisbane the chance to go top when they host Sydney FC on Saturday, while fellow chasers Melbourne City don't play until Monday.
