Chelsea captain John Terry eager to visit Sydney for June 2 friendly

Chelsea captain John Terry says that he can't wait to see the Sydney Opera House as the newly crowned English Premier League champions finalise the details of their end of season tour.

The Blues will face Sydney FC in a friendly on June 2 at Sydney's ANZ Stadium, three days after playing the Thailand All Stars in Bangkok on May 30.

For most of the Chelsea squad, it will be their first trip to Australia, and Terry said that they were looking forward to it.

"Normally the end of season tours are a bit hmmm, but as soon as Sydney was mentioned, the lads were very excited," he told Fox Sports Australia.

"A beautiful place. I'm looking forward to seeing the Sydney Opera House, the harbour, everything."

Terry added that he planned to touch base with his former Chelsea teammate Mark Bosnich, the former Socceroos' goalkeeper who now works as a Sydney-based TV pundit.

"(He was the) life and soul of the dressing room," Terry added. "We can help grow football in Australia. We can see our fans there and they can see us. Hopefully we can put on a really good show for them."

The game in Bangkok will be Chelsea's first appearance in Thailand in almost two years after they beat another All Star team 1-0 in Jose Mourinho's first match back as manager in 2013. The friendly will take place on the same day as the FA Cup final at Wembley between Arsenal and Aston Villa.

Chelsea will have little time to rest at the end of the English season before the tour. The final game of the campaign is against Sunderland on May 24, when they will be presented with the Premier League trophy.
